S T A Y  A W A Y!!
ONLY EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCES WITH PLB!

I filed my first complaint regarding my move-in at PLB. I was supposed to move in Jan, but the apartment had not been cleaned and that the safety cover on the heat regulator was missing. The leasing agent reacted strongly and said that it would be fixed and that the apartment should not be in this condition upon a tenants move-in. I was told that the apartment was going to be cleaned the day after. When I get there the day after, the apartment was still dirty. This continued on until six days had passed and by that time I decided to clean the apartment myself as I had to move in. During the same time I had a very unpleasant experience with the rude security patrol that I also shared with my leasing agent, Jason, and who asked me to file a complaint on all this.

My apartment was also full of bugs when I moved in. I was promised that I was going to be contacted within a week for a follow-up on the spraying of the apartment. No one ever did

During the next 8 weeks I had to chase Jason for answers regarding what had happened to my complaint, whether someone was going to follow up with me regarding the bugs and how my ask would be handled. I had to call Jason several times and e-mail him before he would even reply. A month and a half in from my initial complaint I walk in to the leasing office and see Richard, another leasing agent, and he looks through the system and tells me that he cannot see that a complaint has been filed. Richard e-mails all the "right" people and the supervisors and says that someone will be in touch with me in the next two to three days. No one contacted me. After over 4 months they still haven't confessed to losing the complaint.

2 months from the initial complaint had passed I finally get a hold of Jason again, and he tells me that this is completely unacceptable, but he doesn't know what to do. I ask for the contact info to his supervisor, Eve. He tells me that he'll have her call me the same day or day after. Several days pass and after I post a negative review online, Eve calls me the day after on a Sunday. By this time the bugs are back in my apartment, and Eve tries to excuse this by saying that we live in California and indirectly states that I should be expecting this inside my home. This makes me even more frustrated over the entire situation, as she continues to tell me that Jason is also new at his job and therefore this could be the reason to why he hasn't gotten back to me. I explain my entire situation to Eve over the phone and tell her that it's extremely frustrating for me to chase the management of PLB for answers and have them follow-up on my concerns for this long of a period, and I also ask her about my initial complaint. She said she was going to look into it and get back to me on a Monday. She also says that she will make sure someone will attend to the issues of the bugs in the apartment.
By this time I was finding at least 5-10 spiders/ day in my home, incl. in my own bed and in the bathroom cabinet. She asks me if the service crew had permission to enter my apartment if I'm not home and I make it EXTREMELY CLEAR that they only have permission to enter my apartment IF I have been made aware of the time & day and that I need to give them the green light to enter.

About 2-3 weeks pass without Eve getting back to me, even though she said she would. When I get back home one day from work I see that the apartment was dirty and it looked as if someone had been in there. I did not make much of it, as I knew I had been perfectly clear with Eve. At the same time I had a friend staying over and she calls me when I'm at work a couple of days later after I had reacted to the dirt on my floor and tells me that the service patrol had knocked on the door to enter to do a follow-up from when they had been in the apartment some days before.  I try to get a hold of Eve because she was well aware of the fact that I had not given any permission for anyone to enter without my approval of it, but she did not get back to me. I called several times and I left her a voice message.

A week after, I see that they've been in my apartment again without anyone notifying me. By this time I am so angry with how my situation has been handled and how Eve has failed to reach out to me on multiple occasions, but even more so with her letting the service patrol illegally trespass into my home. After 4 weeks had passed, I finally get a hold of Eve and I ask her why she hasn't gotten back to me. She says that she has no reason and that she is sorry for doing exactly what everyone before her had done. I then ask her why she completely illegally and without any valid reason had let the service patrol trespass into my home and she does not have an answer. I have yet to come in contact with a competent person at PLB. I'm in contact with their lawyer now and guess what? After several weeks he still hasn't answered.

STAY AWAY!

Welcome to Park La Brea Sucks!

Information respectfully taken from:  http://dontmovetoparklabrea.blogspot.com/2007/08/welcome-to-park-la-brea-sucks.html?m=1 Park LaBrea Sucks A blog about why no one should ever move into Park La Brea, a housing complex in Los Angeles, CA from the perspective of an actual long time resident. Thursday, August 9, 2007 Welcome to Park La Brea Sucks! Hello, I have been a resident of  Park La Brea in Los Angeles, CA  for somewhere around 10 years. I live in a so-called garden apartment, which from what I have heard is much much better than living in one of the cell blocks, or towers as they are called. I can't speak directly to the towers, but lets just say you only need to spend a few minutes on the internet to read about the elevator outages, lack of parking, bug infestations, and noise of those glorified dormatories. I am writing this blog partially as a way to blow off steam about my living situation, partially as a corrective to the false informa...

TRUTH about Park La Brea Apartments

In my experiences, egregious were the lack of concern regarding tenant health vis-à-vis broken elevators, mold, insects, and rodents; and, abysmally appalling attitude toward customer service. In one instance the broiler in the unit never stayed on unless the oven door was open (no picnic in summertime). Service guy honestly shared the appliances are outdated and cheap, and unless the broiler was replaced, the situation would not improve. In another instance the laundry room credit machine short changed me $5. I was referred to a customer service number and ended up speaking to someone in another country. Honestly, it’s so bad, making stuff up is unnecessary. And, hey, don’t even think the return of your deposit is a sure thing. In my experience, PLB added erroneous fees to separate me from my credit. As an aside, two boxes were stolen when I moved in. As required by PLB for move-in, one of the two elevators was reserved, but only one was working at the time. So, the ‘reserved’ ...

Park La Brea NIGHTMARE !

GARBAGE! Living here has been a complete nightmare.  I absolutely hate myself for moving here.  PLEASE if you have any sense at all, find another place.  I cannot stress enough, do not make the same mistake I did.  I do not have the time to go into everything that is wrong with this place, but if you can imagine it....well.       From the living conditions, (rats, a million bugs) to the office, this place really gets to you.  I am counting down the days until my lease ends and move FAR away from here.  Can't sleep, can't think. i dont even want to touch certain cupboard in my kitchen because they were COVERED in rat droppings. IMAGINE!  horrible people work here, (maintenance however is pretty cool, but) and you will truly hate yourself if you fall for it. goodnight, and goodluck. Worst mistake i made in my life!
